Frequently asked questions

How much time will I need to spend doing the program? I'm busy!


The program is 12-module long (takes around 3-4 months to complete) and the lessons are broken down into bite-sized chunks so you can still manage to go through them with a busy schedule. I suggest spending at least half an hour to an hour going through the lessons each week plus about 15 mins practising the skills each day. You have access to the program for LIFE so you can keep re-visiting the program over and over again.




How fast will I see results? I lose motivation if I don't see results fast


If you commit to the action steps I lay out for you and are open to change and follow the proven steps, many of my clients stop binge eating within 1-2 weeks, if not sooner. However, weight loss depends on many variables and each person's body responds at different rates. Your current size, your health, your personal history and a whole bunch of other factors affect your weight. Our focus is on stopping the binge eating, the yo-yo dieting or the emotional eating first. While I can't guarantee weight loss, for many people, once you get your eating under control, they're able to lose weight. Weight isn't the only measurement of progress. You're also working towards less preoccupation with food, more happiness and freedom and increased confidence.




What will happen to my weight once I complete the program? Everytime I finish a diet, the weight finds its way back on my body.


I put a huge emphasis on getting out of the stress response and making sure your new way of eating and your new routine is sustainable for life, and that it can be done regardless of where you are, whether you work shifts, or travel a lot, love going on holidays, want to go out with girlfriends. The meal structure that I give you and the coping skills that I teach you are sustainable for life. This isn't just another diet that's meant to be followed short term and give quick results that don't last. You will learn sustainable ways to lose weight and keep it off because unlike diets that you have tried in the past where you will go back to your “normal” way of eating after a short period of time, you will develop habits and lifestyle change that are your new normal. We make the strategies and changes work for you and your lifestyle indefinitely. If you continue to follow the system, your results should last and be able to maintain your weight after you've reached your goal weight. In the last module, I also work with you to develop a relapse prevention and weight loss or weight maintenance plan and so you still have a system with all the skills needed to maintain long-lasting results.




What if I have a history of eating disorders or currently have an eating disorder, such as anorexia, or bulimia?


You'll need to have medical supervision from your own medical team alongside doing the program, because eating disorders can be life-threatening and you'll need to be closely monitored, so this program cannot be your only source of support. On the breakthrough call, I'll also assess if your current health situation, your history and your mindset are suitable for commencing the program at this time. Your health and wellbeing is my priority so I'd need to make sure it's safe and that I can help you with what you need in order to recover from your eating disorders. While this program is not therapy or counselling, you'll still learn invaluable skills to help you cope with your triggers and your emotions and intervene accordingly.




Is this a weight loss program?


Yes and no. The fact that you gained weight in the past is a SYMPTOM--a symptom you were not eating in a way that supports your body, a symptom that you were not managing your emotions, cravings or urges effectively. Our main focus is to help you stop binge eating and overeating and to help you re-establish a eating pattern that is sustainable for life. The meal structure is the same regardless of your goals. However, in the program and on our support calls, we work on more personalized strategies to help you achieve your specific goals. This program is not another diet. Because nutrition is only one of the pillars of success, simply giving you another diet to follow will set you up for failure. Therefore, addressing your daily habits, your coping skills, learning to manage distress and emotions and building confidence, alongside with changing your nutrition, will help you achieve your goals.




Nothing worked for me in the past-How is this any different?


The reason nothing worked in the past is likely because you were choosing diets that work against your body's natural protective mechanism and therefore cause it to fight for food so much harder. You think you've tried all the solutions out there, but these are just different variations of the same solution i.e. restriction and deprivation. The Stop Binge Eating Program is vastly different in that it helps you re-establish your eating pattern in a way that is no longer restrictive and is actually sustainable and works alongside your body--as a result, your cravings and binge urges are massively reduced. More importantly, aside from nutrition, without addressing the root causes of your binge eating, you will have a hard time maintaining your progress. Therefore, throughout the program, we also cover how to manage and cope with distress, unpleasant emotions, and deal with the root cause. The support and accountability also make it almost impossible to fall off track




I don't need/want to lose weight-Is this program still for me?
